Romería en Honor a San Roque y San Agustín
Festivities are of great religious and popular importance and happen in the Plaza de San Pedro Apóstol the last two weekends of August. The streets are filled with music and fun. The first Saturday of the festivities begins with the great Magicians' Ball, a recent but no less significant celebration. The chasneros and channeras wear their traditional dress and prepare traditional Canarian dishes spending the night where sharing and Canarian identity are central to the event. The following Friday, the popular and religious shows begin in honour of San Agustín and San Roque. On Saturday, at the traditional Craft Fair, there are products created by local craftsmen.
The Romero is held on Sunday, making a tour through the streets of Vilaflor. Dressed in typical costumes, the chasneros and channeras enjoy Canarian music, and decorated floats fill the streets where typical dishes and wines from the harvest can be tasted.
Families find space in the Hermitage of San Roque's surroundings to share food, hoping this traditional happy day will come every year.

Inside they carry buns with reeds full of miniature figurines.
Santa Barbara is thanked for the harvest and asked for the next one to be as good and that the town girls will find a good husband.
Once the outing is finished, the baskets are placed on the façade of the Church until the festivities end.
The day ends with a typical large street party.

Corazones de Tejina - Hearts of Tejina 2023
Hence, the town of Tejina goes out of its way to conserve the tradition.
The "Corazones de Tejina" exemplify popular culture mixing festivity with religious fervour and important aspects of high ethnographic and anthropological value. It is celebrated in Tejina - a village located in the northeast of the island of Tenerife, around the 24th of August (on the feast day of San Bartolomé), which proudly raises these beautiful banners every year proclaiming their beauty and exclusivity.
A cross-shaped structure with two wooden hearts, one larger than the other, serves as a base to sew flowers, fruits and flatbread. They are made for the events of the fiestas de San Bartolomé, which are celebrated at the end of August when the three principal areas of the town (El Pico, Calle Arriba and Calle Abajo) carry out the heart they have been embroidering for days.
Then the men carry the hearts to the church square, each weighing up to 900 kilos and 12 meters high, placing them there, where a fun ritual begins in which each one ridicules the other hearts.
In 2004 the International Centre for Heritage Conservation (CICOP) recognised its contribution to regional, national and international culture by awarding it the Canary Islands Special Prize for the Restoration and Conservation of Intangible Heritage.
Tenerife Oktoberfest 2022

Romería en Honor a San Roque (San Roque Pilgrimage)
Thousands of visitors flock to the town of Garachico to take part in one of the most authentic fiestas on the island of Tenerife. Music enlivens the pilgrimage through the streets of the town, which culminates in a beautiful maritime voyage. Early morning, pilgrims arrive at the hermitage of San Roque, and the saint's image is transferred to the Church of Santa Ana in the centre of the town, where a religious ceremony is held at midday.
At 13:00, the famous pilgrimage of San Roque begins. The image is accompanied by music bands, carts, herds, harnessed animals, rondallas and parrandas. At the same time, the fishermen of Garachico carry out the Romería Marítima, with their decorated boats accompanying the saint along the coastline.
This fiesta and pilgrimage date back to the 17th century, when the island suffered a terrible epidemic between 1601 and 1606. The main focus was located in Puerto de Garachico. However, after the sudden disappearance of the disease, the miracle was attributed to San Roque. Since then, every year, on 16th August, a pilgrimage is held in honour of the saint.
