Weather in January in Puerto de la Cruz
I have travelled up the North of the Island to the upmarket town of Puerto de la Cruz. Here up the North the weather is cooler, and some of the older generation particularly choose this resort as they prefer the more comfortable climate to that of the South.

The month is January and during my stay here I experience a lot of cloud cover and a fair bit of rain. This type of weather is to be expected this time of year. Having done my research before I came here I am fully prepared with warm cloths, boots and my umbrella! Some days are really pleasant, like spring or early summer in England. One morning was so hot that people got on their swimsuits and took a sunbed at the Lido along the promenade here.

The best thing to do is check what the weather is doing before leaving your hotel. So even if you leave in shorts and covered in sun cream, you take some warmer cloths and an umbrella with you. Puerto de la Cruz can be enjoyed any time of the year, as long as you appreciate the changeable weather, and go out prepared. The summer months will be a bit more reliable with warmer temperatures.
