Tenerife Forest Fires Breakout Again

Fires have broken out on Tenerife again, the current outbreak stated on Friday in the area of Ruigómez near the town of El Tanque, 360 hectares have been affected and 2200 residents have been evacuated in the municipalities of El Tanque, Los Sols, Buenavista del Norde and Santiago del Teide.

The villages that have been evacuated are  Erjos, San Jose de Los Llanos, Los Carrizales, The Portelas, Masca, Teno Alto and El Palmar, also Santiago del Teide in Valle Arriba. Most people are staying at homes of friends and relatives and the rest have been out up in shelters in Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide.

The Director General of Security and Emergency, Juan Manuel Santana said that the fire was rapidly advancing towards Santiago del teide due to strong winds gusting to 40km per hour, high heat and low humidity.
