Santa Cruz de Tenerife Shopping

Santa Cruz shopping is exciting and very different to shopping in the resorts in Tenerife. We were in the town a few days before the Día de los Reyes, and everyone was out Christmas shopping.

We went into one of the large department stores, and just like back home there was a lot of gift wrapping for customers. We have to speak a bit of Spanish here which is good.

Some of the boutiques are expensive; a gorgeous pair of shoes can cost anything from £400 to £600. I made my mind up to just window shop around the boutiques. Spanish fashion is far more elegant and stylish. Window dressing here is glamorous, and shows off the very best dresses and shoes. In the heart of the city are familiar shops such as H&M, Zara, Body Shop, and Benetton. I had a quick look in H&M, I think the styles and merchandise are a bit different to back home.

The sales are on here now and I could not resist a few bargains, so purchased a pair of black ankle boots with fluffy black fur around the top, a cream top, a casual black handbag, some socks, and sparkle nail polish. Total would have been about €90, but after the sale discount I paid around €37. Between you and me I think Pete was relieved after seeing me drooling over the pricey boutiques. After shopping you can get a meal, ice cream, coffee, drinks, everywhere is open late, unlike the UK, where although we are Costa Coffee regulars, they are always asking us to leave when they close rather early! Mind you we get a bit busy on our laptops, so don’t notice they have closed. I prefer the Spanish way and wish I could stay…………..
