Our Red Level Experience in Gran Melia Resort

We entered the grand reception at Gran Melia Resort. The staff where smartly dressed in white and red. We were shown to a private lounge area; for Red Level guests. Red Level is a separate part of the resort for guests that want some luxury, pampering, or a romantic package, and is for adults only.

We booked a Junior Suit; we entered through a hallway with plush wardrobes. There was an Espresso coffee machine, and mini bar. The bed was enormous, and decorated with stylish cushions and a throw. The standard of cleaning of the room was high.

Our balcony which overlooks a fish pond and the gardens we have a luxury bathroom with Bathrobes and Clarins toiletries. There was an iPod player so while getting dressed I could listen to my music. A Butler service is included, for shoe shining, clothes ironing and other requests. Rooms are serviced in the morning, and in the evening our beds are turned down with a chocolate by our pillows. A little cotton mat is placed either side of the bed with slippers.

Breakfast is served on the Red level Terrace; there are not many people on Red Level so it is very peaceful. Breakfast is a buffet, and a la Carte menu. Eggs benedict and scrambled egg with salmon are among the Gourmet delights. This is a place for relaxing; we did not see any of the staff rushing around it is all very calm.

The pool is nice and quiet as not many guests book Red Level. Plenty of sunbeds are around the pool with a complimentary towel. Pool concierge brought us drinks, and newspapers. In the afternoon a complimentary juice drink was served to everyone. We can help ourselves to coffee, speciality teas, and water all day, and I am pleased to say there were homemade biscuits as well. This is all included.

Also included we have a free bar and tapas on the terrace every evening from 6pm – 7pm. We would stay on the terrace and watch the sun setting over the sea. There were different tapas each evening.

I saw the funny side when we checked out, as most guests leave in a nice car from the Red Level private car park or order a taxi. So when we went to ask the staff where the nearest bus stop was! I decided to explain what we were doing on the Island, and I was pleased at their interest. One young man who is training in hotel management helped us with bus times, our luggage, and made sure we had water for the journey, he came with us right to the entrance to say goodbye.
