Blue Flag Beaches of Tenerife

Blue Flag Beaches of Tenerife

Tenerife has eleven beaches awarded the coveted blue flag for providing safe bathing conditions. Two other beaches are awarded the blue flag only during the high season due to the withdrawal of some services during low season for cost saving.

All Blue Flags are awarded to beaches for one year at a time, and are re-assessed every year to ensure beaches are still compliant with the standards required.

If the criteria are not fulfilled during the season, or the conditions change, the Blue Flag may be withdrawn.

Here is a list of the current blue flag beaches on Tenerife. Some beaches will have blue flags flying during the season, but as previously mentioned, have them withdrawn out of season as they may withdraw lifeguard cover to save money for example.

Beaches are awarded the Blue Flag based on compliance with 33 criteria covering the following:

  1. Environmental Education and Information

  2. Water Quality

  3. Environmental Management

  4. Safety and Services
