A Day In Icod de los Vinos

A Day In Icod de los Vinos

Icod is a typical Spanish town; it was interesting to stay a couple of nights. Tourists come to Icod to see the two main attractions which are the Dragon Tree. Scientists think the tree is around two thousand years old. I took a picture of an old photo to give you an idea of how big the tree is. The photo is a bit faded but you can just see people standing in the trunk of the tree.

The other attraction is the Butterfly Park. Thought we would just see some butterflies in glass cabinets. Got a surprise as we entered the tropical garden, hundreds of exotic butterflies where flying around in total freedom. A magical sight, I took a short video with my iPhone which we are putting on YouTube later. We saw a butterfly being born sadly the average age of these fragile creatures is between one and three weeks.

As you pass by the shops in Icod they invite you in to try the local wines & liqueurs, we accepted all the invites!

The photo of us we took ourselves and you will see we are dressed in warmer clothes for the North.

There are only a couple of restaurants in Icod, and they did not appeal to us. First night we ended up eating at a Park Café. I had Tappas & Pete had a beef burger, he kept asking me what I thought was in it? I did not want to say. Second night we decided to eat in the attractive courtyard of our Hotel. They only do snacks had hot rolls from the grill with chicken, cheese, and chorizo sausage yumee and good red wine.

I would say the attractions here are worth a visit and we just happened to find the very different San Augustine Hotel here.
