Tenerife forest fires 2013

The info below refers to fires in 2012.

The forest fires on Tenerife are affecting the area of the Teno Massive on the north western flank of the island in the mountains. The tourist resorts in the south Tenerife, Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos and the Costa Adeje areas are not affected by these forest fires and are not under threat. Playa de las Americas is approximatley 37km from the area where the fires are burning.

The nearest resorts to the fires are Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes, but these are on the coast and the fires are in the mountains and are not at risk.

Residents have been evacuated from some mountain villages, but the fire is now under control and has been relegated from a level 2 emergency to a level 1. The TF-373 (Erjos-Icod road) has now been fully opened. Titas bus services to the area remain suspended.
