Los Gigantes Tenerife Review

The holiday resort of Los Gigantes is located on Tenerife's west coast. It is dominated by the enormous cliffs that give the town its name, soaring 600 meters above the beach. These giant cliffs are the foot of the Teno Massive Mountains covering the northwestern area of Tenerife.

Los Gigante's focal point is the marina where there are berths for over 400 boats. The small marina is lined with a variety of bars and restaurants where you can have lunch or dinner overlooking the sea.

Los Gigantes has now effectively merged with its resort neighbours of Puerto de Santiago and Playa del Arena. The resort is very hilly in places and is probably therefore not suitable for people with mobility problems.

Los Gigantes is an attractive resort where buildings are all low rise except for one high rise hotel. The resort is often referred to as upmarket and will appeal to families and couples. The roads are very narrow hilly and winding. This part of Tenerife has more sunshine of any other part of the island.

Where is Los Gigantes

Los Gigantes is in the municipality of Santiago del Teide on the west coast of Tenerife about 30km from the resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. The location of the holiday resort of Los Gigantes is shown on the Los Gigantes map by the marker.

Los Gigantes Attractions

From the marina, you can take a boat trip to watch whales and dolphins, deep-sea fishing, or book scuba diving, jet skis and kayaks.

There is also a seafront pool complex designed by Cesar Manrique, El Laguillo, on the opposite side of the marina to the beach, with a saltwater swimming pool, a natural rock pool and snack bar.

Another pool complex exists at Club Oasis, with lawns for sunbathing and a pool with a couple of small slides, a bar and restaurant. There is a small entrance fee to both of these facilities. Another popular bathing spot is at Crab Island where there is a natural rock pool carved into the lava rocks. This area is closed off on days when the sea is rough for safety reasons.

Los Gigantes Beaches

Los Gigantes has only one small black sand beach at Playa Los Guios, which is clean, well-kept and is safe for children and not normally crowded. The beach is situated by the marina where there is a car park, but it does get busy so parking can be a problem.

Los Gigantes Nightlife

Los Gigantes is a small quiet, relaxed resort catering for a mostly British clientele. Although it is relatively small, there are plenty of excellent restaurants and bars. There are no clubs or late-night bars, so the resort is popular with families and couples. Most of the bars and restaurants are focused on the marina and the main street Avenida Marítimo de Los Gigantes.

There is a variety of restaurants in Los Gigantes including Canarian, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Tapas bars and a selection of sports bars, karaoke, entertainment, cabaret and music bars.
