Costa del Silencio, which means the silent coast, is situated on the tip of south Tenerife. Costa del Silencio is only about 5 miles from Reina Sofia Airport and is under the flight path on the approach to the airport, so is subject to aircraft noise.

However this not really noticeable and airport is only busy on Tuesdays and Fridays, so the noise is not constant as the airport is not as busy as a main international airport. But if the thought of aircraft noise is a no goer, then avoid Costa del Silencio and any of the resorts in this area.

Costa del Silencio Attractions

Close to Costa del Silencio are two of the best golf courses on Tenerife at Golf del Sur, and Amerilla Golf and Country Club. Both are 18 hole championship courses.

Costa del Silencio Beaches

Costa del Silencio lacks a beach to speak of, the only one being a short walk away at Las Galletas which is a black volcanic shingle beach. This has a large concrete defence barrier to protect a small number of fishing boats harboured there. In the evenings local surfers and body boarders congregate to ride the Atlantic waves.

Costa del Silencio Nightlife

Costa del Silencio is made up of a number of small complex areas with bars and discos.

The promenade at near by Las Galletas has some very good fish restaurants along with a selection of other bars, cafes and restaurants

The distance from Tenerife Reina Sophia Airport to Costa del Silencio is approximately 15km by road that takes about 25 minutes
