Our Tenerife Trip Accommodation Summary 2012

Below are brief details of accommodation that we stayed in while travelling around Tenerife. For more detailed information email me at [email protected]

Hotel Beatriz Atlantis & Spa Puerto de la Cruz Tenerife

A bright, clean hotel with a superb breakfast. In the city near to the seafront, many rooms have a sea view. It does not just attract British holiday makers, lots of nationalities stay here. The hotel caters for Weddings and business functions giving it an important feel.

On arrival we were given sparkling wine and we had a good feeling about this Hotel which turned out to be right. I had done a fair bit of research on this hotel before we started this trip.

**Red Level at Gran Melia Hotels & Resorts in Alcala Tenerife**

The stay is an experience, and booking just a couple of nights is not uncommon, such as Valentines and long weekends. Designed for adults, you can enjoy butler service. Everything is done to a high standard. If you want some peace and quiet, and enjoy the better things in life I would recommend a visit. Paying the extra money to stay at Red Level will bring you something a bit different.

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria Playa fanabe in the South of Tenerife

The Hotel décor is very elegant. The breakfast was gourmet food, sparkling wine, beautiful cakes, fresh juices, and so much more. I cannot comment on the other restaurants here as we went out, but feel sure they are like the rest of this hotel, luxurious. Service is impeccable, and staff very accommodating. Evening entertainment very good. Lead a preferred lifestyle and stay here.

**Hotel Aguere in La Laguna in the North of Tenerife**

I found this little gem in my travel guide book. Situated in the old quarter this delightful B&B is a non-package experience and I loved it. The 18th Century house once a Bishops Palace, has rooms that are airy and spacious. Breakfast is the only meal served, included in the price and is taken under swaying palms in the courtyard. We found the guy on reception was keen to give us lots of information. I would love to stay here again. I could go into more detail, but this is just a summary. For more delights on this find of mine e-mail me.

The Barceló in Puerto Santiago Tenerife

An all-inclusive Hotel, we stayed couple of nights but not on an all-inclusive package, and did our own thing. Our room was o.k. nothing flash. We had booked a sea view, and had some view of the sea, as there was a huge rock right in front! So when sitting on our balcony the rock dominated the view. Noticed the reception desk was always busy, quite a few people wanted to change their rooms. We did not bother, but did have a word about lighted cigarette butts being dropped onto our balcony. The woman on reception told us we would have to sort it out ourselves, this did not impress us and we insisted we spoke to a manager. The pool facilities are on the roof of the Hotel, we noticed there were not enough sunbeds for everyone, unless you were out there about 9am. Breakfast was good. This Hotel is ideal for little families. For information on the facilities in this Hotel and the area e-mail address at the top of this summary.

Hotel Arenas Del Mar in El Medano in the South of Tenerife

The Hotel is about 15 minutes’ walk from the town of El Medano. This did not bother us as we like to walk along the seafront, very windy here and this did bother some people at our hotel. Our room was bright and right on the top floor so we got the sun on our balcony, balconies below did not. This is an all-inclusive hotel, again we did our own thing, had a couple of nights here which was enough. Breakfast is the only meal I can comment on but not that great. Hotel was clean and very modern. The staffs were friendly.  This is a quieter Hotel than say the Barceló.  When passing through El Medano again I would stay here, but not on an all-inclusive holiday.

Hotel Aguamarina on the Golf Del Sur in the South of Tenerife

Our room was tired looking, and in need of refurbishment. We only had breakfast here, the large dining area downstairs was very humid, and I was told by a member of staff that there was no air conditioning in the restaurant. Hence the waiters and waitresses were looking tired and flustered. The dining room also looked in need of refurbishment. The entrance to this hotel gives a different impression, and in the past we have been in to use the cocktail bar. We would not stay at this Hotel again.

Sandos in San Blas in the South of Tenerife

This is an all-inclusive and just before we left for home booked ourselves in for couple of nights to try the whole package. Our room was modern, bright and clean with some unusual touches. We were pleasantly surprised. The price we paid included breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon tea and buffet, evening meal with a glass of decent wine and late night sandwiches. You just don’t eat all of these; however depending on what you are doing you can always get something to eat. Certain drinks are included in the package, and others have to be paid for. There are different pools, the lower level ones being very busy and noisy with children. There is Entertainment every evening. Ideal for little families and young couples.

Hostel Carel in El Medano South of Tenerife

This is run by a family who also run the Bar Cafe attached to the hostel. Rooms about £35 for a night. They are basic, bed linen was clean, and we had a safe in our room. Towels provided and some basic toiletries. They will provide breakfast for five Euros per person. This was good, croissants, rolls, cheese, salami, jams, juice, coffee or tea. We did get a bit hot in the room, had a fan on at night, this was noisy though. This is great for backpackers and those on a budget. We have stayed here before when passing through.
