Anaga Mountains and Teide Volcano

Been rather busy the last few days, we wanted to see the unspoilt side of Tenerife. Hired a car to drive through the rugged Anaga Mountains, stopped at small resorts along the coast. These villages are still largely untouched by tourism. Drove up the Volcano where the sun is much stronger, it was in the 90’s. I found the heat a bit much, but enjoyed the drive up, and looking around. I could look down onto blankets of clouds. In Mount Teide National Park, the rock formations are hundreds of thousands of years old, and visitors are fascinated by the colours in the volcanic rocks. I was surprised to find a state-run Hotel up there, have put this on our too do list.

Bought tickets to Loro Parque. Was good to see all the animals are being kept in their natural habitat. I liked Planet Penguin, and the Orca show; it did cross my mind I may be leaving the park on my own. If they spotted another fine specimen to show! (Pete)

Went back to La Laguna to see a traditional Carnival which puts the Worthing one to shame! The town turned out in traditional dress. The carts were pulled by bulls and the people on the carts threw little food parcels into the crowd. There was singing and dancing through the streets.

We are Leaving Hotel Beatriz today, to go and have a rest! We are exactly half way through our trip. Will let you know where we are soon.
